Today, this exchange has grown to include students from countries such as Colombia, USA, Latvia, Mexico, and France.
Our mission is to surround our dancers with inspiration and support while promoting a strong sense of unity. The exchange program offers not only the highest quality instruction but a wonderful education in arts and culture for all.

Q1: What are the age requirements for auditioning for the contemporary training program?
A1: Candidates must be 17 years old or older to audition for the program.
Q2: What are the prerequisites for auditioning?
A2: Dancers should have classical and or contemporary training background.
Q3: What should I prepare for the audition?
A3: Prepare to demonstrate your ballet technique with barre exercises and a couple of center movements. Following this, you'll learn repertoire from the company.
Q4: Is there an opportunity to meet with the artistic director after the audition?
A4: Yes, selected dancers will have a meeting with the artistic director and associates to discuss their potential in the program.
Q5: What should I wear to the audition?
A5: Wear appropriate ballet attire that allows for freedom of movement, such as leotards and tights, along with ballet slippers or socks. Ensure your outfit highlights your technique.
Q6: Will there be a fee to audition?
A6: NO, This is not a practice our organization does. No audition fees are required.
Q7: How do you assess the auditions?
A7: At Lamondance, we value individuality in dancers and strive to create an environment that encourages self-expression. While strong technique is essential, we are equally interested in how dancers engage with and assimilate the repertoire from our company. During the audition, we focus on your ability to comprehend and respond to feedback, recognizing that time is limited. Our goal is to ensure that every dancer is seen, respected, and given the opportunity to showcase their full potential.
Q8: What is the structure of the training program?
A8: The training program is thoughtfully designed to reflect the daily life of a professional dancer within a dance company. From Monday to Friday, dancers will partake in two and a half hours of technique classes, which encompass classical ballet, contemporary dance, partnering, improvisation, yoga, conditioning, and injury prevention. Following this, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, participants will immerse themselves in learning repertoire, engaging in the creation process, rehearsals, and workshops. This comprehensive schedule totals 6.5 hours of activities each day, providing dancers with the mindset and preparation necessary for a successful professional career.
Q9: Are there performance opportunities in the program?
A9: Absolutely! Dancers will have the chance to take part in high-quality performances that are thoughtfully curated, designed as professional dance showcases rather than traditional recitals. This experience offers valuable insights into the casting process, costume design, set creation, and touring throughout the year. Our organization presents four shows per season, providing dancers with extensive performance opportunities that contribute to their artistic growth and development.
Q10: When will I be notified of the audition results?
A10: Candidates will receive notification of their audition results via email within two weeks of their audition date. Following this communication, they will have ample time to respond regarding their admission to the training program.
Q11: Do I need to complete the entire three-season training program?
A11: The training program is designed to span three seasons, each lasting nine months. However, after the first season, the artistic director will connect with each dancer to evaluate whether the program remains a suitable fit for both the dancer and the organization. While most of our dancers complete the full three-season program, many have gone on to successful careers in professional dance companies worldwide, and in roles such as choreographers, set designers, dance teachers, and studio owners.
Q12: Does the tuition change from season to season?
A12: One of our foremost commitments is to keep our training affordable. We take pride in having maintained consistent tuition rates over the years. In addition to keeping tuition stable, we offer dedicated support through the Lamondance Equity Fund for those who qualify. Our artistic director works tirelessly to uphold this promise. If there are ever any changes, we will let you know well in advance—typically a year ahead—so you can plan accordingly. Your peace of mind and commitment to affordability are our top priorities.
Q13: Once admitted to Lamondance’s Contemporary Training Program, will I receive grades or marks?
A13: Giving grades or marks to dancers is not part of our practice. We prioritize individuality and constructive feedback. Each semester, every dancer in the Contemporary Training Program receives both verbal and written feedback from our artistic director, associate mentors, and all teachers involved in the program. This approach is designed to help each dancer understand, embrace, and work towards their unique development. We believe that this method fosters growth and creativity far better than traditional grading.
