Vinicius Oliveira Batista

Vinicius Batista is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, actor, and singer based in Vancouver, Canada. His artistic practice is rooted in contemporary dance and explores the relationship between movement, music, voice, performance, and visual media.

He began his dance training at Ballare Studio de Dança in Brazil, studying ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance, while also developing experience in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. He later pursued improvisation training at IMPROCLUBE in São Paulo and graduated in Musical Theatre from CEFTEM in Rio de Janeiro. His professional training includes artistic experiences in Brazil and Canada, as well as being selected for an internship opportunity with Art Garage Company in Italy and receiving a scholarship to train with LamonDance in Vancouver.

As a choreographer and performer, Vinicius has created and performed works including TRÍADE (2022), OCITOCINA (2023), CAIXA PRETA (2024), and PETRÓLEO (2025/2026). His creative practice investigates the body as a space for memory, transformation, contradiction, and communication. He is particularly interested in how movement can interact with music, voice, video, and technology to create immersive and interdisciplinary experiences.

Alongside his work as a performer and choreographer, Vinicius has developed experience in videography, video editing, graphic design, and digital content creation. He has collaborated with dance schools, companies, and independent artists, producing visual materials and managing social media for artistic projects. His background in psychology also informs his interest in human behavior, relationships, and the emotional dimensions of performance.

Currently based in Vancouver, Vinicius continues to develop his practice through independent creation, collaborations, residencies, festivals, and professional dance opportunities. His work is driven by a desire to create meaningful conversations through the body and to explore new possibilities for contemporary performance.
