Kauã (2025)
Rather disappointed with the first of the three parts to the show, but the other two, in my mind, more than compensated. The first was dance was excellently performed yet it seemed to lack meaning and intent and was probably somewhat too long. The remaining two dances were excellently performed and made for a pleasant evening. As usual, the standard of performance, the level of commitment and the seeming pleasure the company had in offering these dances was most evident. Congratulations Davi and the troupe.

From Dust (2025)
As always Lamondance never disappoints!! I’m in awe of the talent of the dancers & the choreography is outstanding! Another breathtaking show!
— Debbie Sim
I went to your show because I know 3 of the students. My mind was BLOWN. I have watched dance recitals before, but this was very different. I am not an artist so my words might not reflect my feelings. The movements and the choreography, the songs, the lighting... everything was amazing. I cried.
— Claudine Souza
awesome show as always.
— Loretta Wood
I enjoyed every minute of my evening at this show, like everytime.
— Sonia Assier
The show was absolutely amazing! Very well put together and the performers did an outstanding job. The 2 pieces I enjoyed the most were #1 garden of lights and #4 algrocrazy Great job everyone! Please send me a copy of the show from May 29 and 30th if possible.

Lamondance and Friends Gala / LMDF (2025)
This was the most professional local dance performance I have seen ever. I will definitely be at your next shows. Even with the small music glitch, it was a smooth move. I loved your Brazilian humor🤡😜😜😜😜
— Lea Young
I thought it was a wonderful evening, all the dancers were enjoyable to watch!
— Debbie Sim
Awesome show as always. Loved the music.
— Loretta Wood
The show was a lot of fun to watch! It was great to see all levels and ages of dancers. It gave a cross section of the talent of dancers who all share one thing in common - the love and passion for dancing -regardless of their experience. I especially enjoyed the excerpts from the larger productions. As someone who is not involved in the dance community, I might be hesitant to go to a show not knowing what style it is, but having seen the excerpts makes me want to attend the full shows.
— Tami Brown
A beautiful experience. What a gift to watch such talented artists of all levels, do what they love. I enjoyed every moment. Thank you.
— Emilie Darbey

Triple Bill was trimendous, trying ones trimagination to the point of any trigonometrical triquation! Another innovative, interpretive and enjoyable presentation, displaying the many talents of the members of the company. Lamondance and Friends Gala / LMDF (2024)
I thoroughly enjoyed it! I thought the diverse program was also very stimulating.
— Michael Brewer Clowes
My daughter was dancing in the show and we arrived a little bit later since we were at competition. I was lucky enough to catch the whole second half and it was amazing! I absolutely loved watching the variety of choreography, the talent of the dancers, and the pure love of dance. It was a heartwarming experience for me!
— Alyson Czuczor
As in the previous 15 years, this show always provides the audience with a wide variety of talented dancers from the local area and the show this year, with the theme of "All We Need is Love", was no exception. All We Got was Love +. The flow of the show was well managed by the effervescent, amusing and information provider Davi Rodriguez, with his ever-changing footwear. "All We Needed" was an excellent show - we got it!! Congratulations to all participants!!

The Things That Dreams Are Made Of (2023)
I was charmed by your show- professional dance, miracle atmosphere, music , lights…. Thank you!
— Aglika Ivantcheva
This show was beautiful. I was captivated the entire time. The choreography was deeply evocative, the dancing stunning, and the music and effects on stage were all incredibly moving. I felt shifted after. Thank you for all the artistry that goes into these shows. What a gift to watch.

— Monique Ledoyen
More people need to know about the amazing things that are happening at this small dance studio tucked away in a rehearsal space in Lynn Valley in North Vancouver. I have been to a number of dance performances in Vancouver by groups including Ballet BC and Innerspace, and I have to say I was just as moved and impressed by the two shows I saw this weekend by Lamondance. These dancers showed the same kind of dedication and passion, and brought the choreography of several different artists to life in a show that was powerful and poignant, thought provoking and moving. What a wonderful experience! Davi Rodrigues has created a terrific program that is both relevant and progressive. For anyone with a love of the arts, you should come out and see something amazing that is happening right in our own community!
— Murray Grant
The show was phenomenal. Not one single dance was boring, and I would definitely watch future shows.
— Vivianne Tan
My High School English teacher taught me never to use a sentence ending in a preposition. The title of this show broke that rule but that was the only thing that broke. The performance of all dancers in all numbers exhibited very well the hard work that went into such a diverse, professional, emotional and moving production, for which all involved should be congratulated. My dreams have been clarified having experienced this show. May future productions be as dreamworthy and so fulfilling.
— Ian Thomas
What a breathtaking collection of pieces. The intensity and passion the dancers and Artistic Director showed was moving and inspiring. To see such a strong group of emerging artists put on such a high caliber show was pure joy. Thank you for being so dedicated to your art.
— Renee Richards
I took my 10 year old daughter who is a dancer to this show and we both absolutely loved it. The artistry, the technique, the overall story telling was divine. We were mesmerized by the dancers and the show.
— Trish Jamieson
Absolutely beautiful experience - each creation was very intentional and unique with amazing dancers who poured all their heart and energy into each performance. Left the theatre filled with respect for all involved in creating this amazing performance and love for dance. Thank you so much and I cannot wait for Lamondance's next creative works!!!
— Yurie Kaneko
A Winter’s Twist (2023)
We loved this show from beginning to end. So uplifting! The scenery was magical - loved the fog, the portal and disappearing lamp post and house window. The wolves scene and choreography was spectacular. Romeo and Juliette (both casts) were so talented and the family “fights” were creatively choreographed and so entertaining. The polar bears and snowballs added an Xmas cuteness factor - loved the traffic redirection scene! The goddess of love added a sense of cirque plus regal presence with much audience cheering. Left the theatre feeling entertained and uplifted. Thank you Davi and Lamondance. Great work.
— Alison P
I had a good experience watching the show. I went there with my friends and it was delightful. I found the lighting and decoration fascinating and professional. However, I think the choreography as well the music for some sections can benefit from some improvements to make them more pleasant to the audience. In some scenes, each dancer was doing their own moves. While each dance on its own was good and the performers did a great job, I personally prefer seeing all dancers dancing in unison to some catchy song/music. However, I understand that my view my not be shared by everyone. I really enjoyed the last 10 mins or so of the show, where it got a little silly to undermine the very emotional "death" of Romeo and Juliet. Also, all solo dancers throughout the play were amazing. Hats go off to everyone of them. I also found the interaction with the audience before the beginning of the show delightful. It gave us a sense of participation in the play. Thank you for that. Overall, this was a good show, and I really enjoyed seeing dancers from all walks of life participating in that. It gives me hope seeing how passionate everyone is when it comes to dancing and sharing their love with the world.
— Sam Sh
It was such a fun show to watch and help celebrate the holiday season. Also have to give props to Davi and his speaking at the end. He is so sweet and he wrapped up the theme so beautifully in the end with a true feeling of love.
— Christina Banick
The show was spectacular! My daughter was extremely happy and I loved the quality of the performance. Thank you for bringing this opportunity to our young generation.
— Jehnel Wong
Charles Dickens may well have written a classic and favourite of many, Oliver Twist, but there is now another "Twist" available - Lamondance's "A Winter's Twist". No Fagin, no Artful Dodger, but a troupe of dancers, both experienced and those starting off in the field, who offered the audience a delightful and enthralling evening of interpretive dance, light-heartedness, humour, and all evoking the pleasures and the joys of the season. The Company's commitment and delivery of a very professional-looking show again illustrated what a cultural and artistic gem we have here on the North Shore in the form of Lamondance. My congratulations to all involved.
— Ian Thomas
Triple Bill (2022)
Young, fresh, and unexpected--Triple Bill's raw emotion and energy captivated me throughout the works by three very different choreographers.
— Renee Willock
I loved it, the dancers must be very brave to do what they do in front of so many eyes. I have a lot of respect for it and think they all did a fantastic job of conveying and expressing themselves throughout the entire show. They are all very talented and it was a pleasure to be in the crowd!
— Eric Bruncke
Skin Within (2022)
I was warned that it was good but I was surprised how enjoyable a show it was in every way. I knew the dancers would be fabulous, but the varied choreography was provocative, entertaining, humorous, joyful, expressive, and surprising. I loved it all. Loved the variety of music, the use of the stage, the varied costumes, the fabulous partnering. Some of the stories the dances were portraying I didn't quite understand, but it didn't matter. I wish I understood the lyrics of the french song that was song by one of the talented dancers, as it made it hard to know the story. The use of the great prop door was exciting and fun. There were times I wish I was the dancer who got to be tossed from partner to partner in such a smooth, fun way. It looked so fun! Thanks for challenging my idea of what Contemporary dance can be. Wish I could have filmed it so everyone could see it. Davi, maybe you should do this - it only takes money! That is the rub.
— Nancy J Lilley
I look forward to the show each season and I’m In awe of the quality and variety … There’s an honesty to what’s presented that’s refreshing compared to the other dance offerings in the city …
— Ken Blaschuk
A wonderful selection of dances that captured magnificently the imagination of those in attendance, the innovation and delivery of the choreographers and dancers and leaving the audience with a wide variety of emotions and positive appreciation. Congratulations to all for this final presentation of the season - a fine example of a cultural gem on the North Shore.
— Ian Thomas
Amazing show & choreography! Pairing of the Company with the Training program was great. My younger Dre found the program inspiring! I appreciatedd the diversity of the choreography and yet how it fit together. Thank you!
— Elaine Wilson
Fabulous show! Lots of emotion!
— Gail Allan
Lamondance and Friends Gala / LMDF (2022)
A wonderful array of the talent among the dance groups/schools represented in the show. An enjoyable representation of, and variety in, dancing styles and so nice to see ballet being represented so beautifully. Almost a lost genre given the popularity of more modern dance styles. A most enjoyable evening with first rate performances by all. Looking forward to Lamondance's April show.
— Ian Thomas
It was a great night out, excellent theatre and so fun to see the dance community come together to perform. Thank you!
— Allison Law
Brilliant!
— Murray Grant
Loved the "hair choreography" of the first Lamondance number. I was entertained by all the varied types of dance included in the Gala which was evenly dispersed throughout. The quality of the dancers and choreography was varied but all added to the overall experience. All the Lamondance numbers were extremely well done. I also really appreciated the pas de deux Black Swan number as well as the "We" Lamondance number. There was a young trio that was also excellent. Enjoyed Davi MC-ing but do look forward to the drag queen being there next time if possible! Thanks for a great show.
— Nancy J Lilley
Black Feather (2021)
Brilliant! Spellbinding! Amazing talent!!
— Gail Allan
True artistry. This piece is incredible and absolutely blew me away! I would definitely come to see this again! Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
— Lani Steed
The title “Black Feather” suggests a dark light weight, but it was anything but - a bright heavy interpretation of the vagaries of power, beautifully interpreted by all associated with the show, from the original idea of Davi to the moving performances of a wonderful troupe of dancers. Congratulations to all!!
— Ian Thomas
Firstly the excerpt of The Skin Within that played prior to Black Feather was filled with exuberant playful energy that lifted the spirits of the audience. There was tremendous athletic prowess and joyful humour throughout the piece. It gave the levity needed to watch the powerful, dark piece that followed. Black Feather did show off the incredible talents of the young dancers portraying the story of the corruption of power. Although Davi in his introduction did tell us his inspiration was the election in his home country of Brazil, this representation of the transfer of power and how it corrupts those not equipped to handle its power, could be for any power struggle of power. Last night I watched “Absolute Power”, a 1997 Clint Eastwood film that played on the same theme. I once had an acting coach tell me all scenes are either about power or l love. Black Feather incorporated the love of a mother for her children but then the mother was overcome and seduced by the draw of power. I especially enjoyed the use of costume to signify this when the mother came out wearing the same fabulous fringe pants as the male dancer who wielded the power. The partnering again was superb. The two Asian “twins” were delightful to watch. I must admit it was a mystery whether the one twin at the end was going to be mentored and handed down the power or corrupted by the powerful presence of the power holder who took her away. That is the magic of story telling. We are left with our thoughts if what will happen to this innocent. As an actor who has spent 40 years if my life in stage or in film or tv I admired the addition of emotional sound in the mix while the power struggle ensued. I would encourage Davi to continue that practice so the whole piece is a collaboration of dance and acting so it’s not so shocking to the audience. The music also played its part in shaping this piece. There were some fantastic musical choices. I did miss it then when there was no music. Overall this piece is transformative and powerful beyond words, both leads were other worldly and the rest of the cast supported them admirably. Bravo Davi. This is a piece that should be mounted again and again.
— Nancy Lilley
A Winter’s Twist (2021)
I was wowed by every element of the show - the story, choreography, dancing acting, props, lighting, music and overall enthusiasm. We were very disappointed that the show is not better known and was only performed twice! - It's a crime! Relying largely on viral advertising is not enough. If there is not enough budget for publicity, the newspaper and TV stations need to get involved big time! - So people will not get deprived of this experience. And most importantly, these young artists deserve nationwide if not worldwide recognition. They also need it to pave their path going forward.
— Simon Piniel
A Winter's Twist was refreshing and breathtaking at the same time! It had something for everyone: beauty, whimsy, humour, love, excitement. The choreography and technique of the dancers were excellent. Well done to an exceptional cast and crew, and thank you for making the holidays that much more magical.
— Stephanie Daniels
Hugely entertaining. With so much talent, passion, and holiday spirit, Winter's Twist will be our family's new Christmas tradition.
— Renée Willock
Viva (2019)
“Lamondance celebrates VIVA as Davi Rodrigues, artistic director, explained to the audience in his opening remarks. Viva, “to live” is the theme that runs through the pieces presented in the Company’s latest program. It is an ambitious program, filled with passion, energy, emotion and drive. To live, as Rodrigues explains is to experience the horror of 9/11 as Garden of Lights, the first offering on the program, highlights. To live is to experience the curiosity of a child that the playful piece, Why? explores. To live is to need the connectivity of interaction with others, as A Dominant Wavelength examines in bright red costume. Nostalgia, love, rejection and knowing yourself are all part of the life we live. The choreographers who contributed to VIVA were inspired by moments that resonated in their own life experience. The evening flowed seamlessly from one piece to the next as Rodrigues introduced each piece using the metaphor of a “door” through which one could understand the theme being presented. Lights were kept dim throughout the first and second act giving the impression of watching a play rather than attending a dance recital. The choreography is demanding and in many pieces the pace is fast. The Warm Up required precise timing and exacting limb movement to avoid collision! It was a “sitting on the edge of the seat” experience. The final piece of the evening entitled VIVA embodied the art of dance crossing the threshold into theatre. Using props and to the music of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Green Car Motel, Yma Sumac and Osvaldo Queiroz VIVA inspired by the Leonard Cohen quote, “There is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in” ended the evening on a note of hope with colour and light filling the stage. A company to keep an eye on offering thought provoking dance.”
— © 2019 Nancie Ottem / Review Vancouver
“The epitome of much hard work and clearly it showed. The performance was very professional, including the very appropriate transitions from Davi, to allow the dancers time to change and “catch their breath”. Thought to myself, during the show, why is this not being performed to a larger audience - it was magnificent.”
— Ian Thomas
“Friday evening I watched “Viva”, lamondace celebration of its 10 years of commitment and growth. The show, unique in its kind, has entertained me from beginning to end with a variety of choreographies going from light hearted to more introspective. The quality of the dancing surprised me from the very first entrance, the passion and the commitment of these pre-professional dancers is definitely a big drive in the show. I enjoyed a lot the journey and can’t wait to see what else lamondance is cooking up for next year!”
— Dario Giuseppe Dinuzzi
“Always a pleasure watching your visions Davi!!”
— Lisheanna Lkovic
“Every time I watch these dancers perform I’m in awe with the emotion and artistry. I am truly mesmerized from beginning to end. Magnifique!!”

“I watched this amazing show two nights in a row. It was Brilliant each night. I brought out all the emotions. I cried, I laughed. The talent is Spectacular. Bravo!!”
— Gail Allan
“WOW! These dancers are absolutely incredible. Huge congratulations to every single one of them for putting on such a spectacular performance. You can really see how hard they train, and how well they work together as a team to create a seamless show. I love seeing the dancers shine as individuals in their element. You won’t be missing anything from a Lamon show! With multiple choreographers, every piece has its own personality, and the director shapes them together as a show beautifully. Next time I’d love to see more about the dancers in the program. They deserve some headshots and bios! Amazing work from everyone dancers, stage hands, lighting tech, direction, and instructors. Well done.”
— Kat Trainor
“Viva swept me up into a world of constantly evolving emotions, ideas and stories, in one moment nostalgic, then exhilarating, then introspective, soulful and at another moment comedic and quirky. It was a complete gourmet meal of talented dancing, choreography and music. Thank you Davi and Lamondance for a world-class show that filled my heart with joy! Congratulations to Lamondance on its 10-year anniversary.”
— Susan Kiddie
IELE (April 2019)
“The show was amazing from start to finish. Not a dull moment. The dancers put their heart and soul into the performance and we were captivated the entire time. The music was wonderful too as well as the themes/story. All around fabulous! I love coming to watch Lamondance.”
— Maya Kieling
“A stunning performance. We were enthralled from the beginning to the end! The revisit to the 10 year old opening trio was delightful and delicious; honest and relatable, tangible and dangerous, poetic and lyrical. To say IELE was epic is an understatement. So beautifully choreographed, rehearsed to perfection and delivered with stunning gravitas. The power and pain were palpable. Thank you for entertaining us to our cores. Encore!”
— Monica Lee
“Passionate. Strong energy. Captivating choreography. Highly trained dancers. Great music. Beautiful set design and lighting.”
— Erik Zennstrom
“WOW! A phenomenal show. I loved it from beginning to end ❤️ A must see!!!”
— Gail Allan
“Right after the show the winds picked up. They raged and howled all night long. The gods had clearly been moved to create a weather event to match the passion of the evening’s performance. I’m talking about Lamondance’s world premiere of IELE at the the Blueshore Theatre, Capilano University. I’m not a writer but it seems that every time I see a Lamondance show I’m moved to put pen to paper. As a dance accompanist/composer I’ve seen numerous companies perform over the years but Lamondance astounds me more than any of them. There’s nothing contrived about this company of brilliant movers. Everything they do comes across as real and intended. Their movement is steeped in emotion and has the power to transport the mindset of the audience to an otherworldly realm. This is especially true in IELE where a mystical forest setting summons up mischievous boys and sprightly nymphs. The magical world created by Davi Rodrigues’ incomparable choreography sucks you in so that 43 mins seemed like only 10. I didn’t read the description of IELE in the program beforehand but I realized afterwards that I understood the whole story anyway. The choreography did it’s job as did the music which so completely evoked the fairy tale setting with all it’s wonder and drama. Hats off to Hal Beckett for providing a world class score! The windstorm persisted through the night and into the following day, only to die down after IELE’s second show came to an end. Thanks for stirring things up Lamondance! I will remember IELE for a long time to come.”
— Gill Civil
“From the moment the music played until the final bow, I was on the edge of my seat with this amazing production! The dancers, the choreography, the music, the set design, the lighting, everything about the show was stunning! So grateful to have experienced such a beautiful show. Congrats to everyone at Lamondance”
— Jackie Shigetomi
“Loved everything about last nights show from the throw back to the new works collaboration with Hal Beckett’s! The show brought smiles to both mine and my daughters face!”
— Mandy Rabinovitch
“Iele has a Shakespearean grandeur, a measure of Romeo and Juliet and a sprinkle of Midsummer Nights Dream. Like in these plays each character in Iele throbs with a unique vitality. Iele’s narrative unfolds through an expansive naturalistic movement vocabulary. Each of the dancers bring their own life force and passion to their characters. The main characters are magical, captivating, charismatic. The ensemble dancers equally inhabit their characters driven by intense instinctive impulses breathing into the dance rhythms. The musical score echoes ancient voices. The soundscape and movement symbiotically reverberate the timeless themes of the Iele.”
— David Secunda
“I thought this was a stunning performance, of superb choreography and beautifully carried out by the dancers. These performances should be repeated for others to see!”
— Dolores Kirkwood

“The performance was INCREDIBLE! Congratulations Lamondance Season 9 2017 / 2018 and Davi Rodrigues for an outstanding show last night! To me, it was flawless! Impeccable technique, wonderful music choices, inspired props and lighting effects ... but most of all ... it was so human!!! The energy of the whole performance entertained with passion, drama, humour, wit, tenderness, joy, exhilaration - all very human qualities. “Marbled” most definitely came from the heart - a very genuine performance by the dancers and remarkable manifestation of their Artistic Director’s vision. I’m still buzzing from the experience!”

I left last night’s performance feeling awestruck, inspired, and transformed. I was blown away by the company’s professionalism and the captivating storyline. North Vancouver is incredibly lucky to host a pre-professional dance company of this calibre.”
— Justine Fraser | @reformingart
“What a joy and privilege to witness Lamondance 2018 performances of “Marbled”! Through the performances a secret slowly revealed itself: The deep connections between the dancers nourished by your direction and love enchanted the audience. I could break down your choreography into its artistic elements - space, time, groupings, balance, asymmetry, motif, symbols, character, relationships (all brilliantly conceived) - however, the dancers’ espirit de corps touched the hearts of each person in the audience. Your process of creation gave birth to this spirit. Your use of naturalism - grounding your choreographic concepts in nature, instinct, and humanity - stirred up the audiences’ empathy for the beings inhabiting the dances. WE and Ilele are both naturalistic, as instinctive motivation propelled these pieces’ action. However, as they contrast in setting and tone, the two pieces show your breadth of subject choice. For WE, aptly named - it is about “we”, all of us, in its inclusiveness and ALL of each one of us in its depth. WE revealed the comedy of love and attraction. Ilele transports us into a dream state in the forest of the nymphs. The narrative of both Ilele and WE transfixed the audience to the action, WE with a satirical tone and Ilele with a mythical tone reminiscent of Nijinski in “l’apres midi d’un faune”. The story was so compelling the audience participants craved to know what happened next. Your work embodies excellence on so many choreographic dimensions, but two are particularly unique. Your use of motif, the use of idiosyncratic or unusual movement, creates psychological depth. The nymphs repeat a ritualized head movement in which the eyes and face are transfixed in otherworldly expression. This motif imbues character and even a soul to the nymphs. A second choreographic element, shift of focus, moves the audience attention, from one narrative image to another. The rhythm of the shift helps the viewer understand the story, creates tension, and gives importance to all the characters in the dance. Through Marbled Lamondance created a special dream enabling the audience to recognize the potential of Art and inspiring the dancers to realize the potential of Art.”
— David Secunda
