The Lamondance Equity Fund

Creating Pathways for BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Artists.

Investing in the Human Behind the Artist

Our Vision for Equity At Lamondance, we believe that artistic excellence should never be silenced by financial barriers. Our scholarship program is a direct extension of our mission to dismantle systemic obstacles within contemporary dance. We don't just see dancers; we see individuals with unique lived experiences. By centering BIPOC, Immigrant, and LGBTQ+ voices, we are building a cultural home where every artist has the agency to steer their own creative future.

Eligibility & Priorities

We welcome applications from dancers who identify with the communities at the heart of our mission. While we review every application with care, we prioritize:

  • BIPOC Artists: (Latin American, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour).

  • Immigrant & Newcomer Artists: Dancers navigating the Canadian arts landscape currently residing or training in British Columbia.

  • LGBTQ2S+ Community: Artists seeking a safe, inclusive creative home.

Financial Need: Dancers from low-income backgrounds or those facing socio-economic barriers.

Important Note on Funding Availability

Lamondance is a non-profit society. While our goal is to support every artist who walks through our doors, our scholarship capacity is directly tied to the grants and community donations we receive each season. Awards are distributed based on current fund availability. If we cannot provide a full scholarship, we are committed to working with you individually to explore partial bursaries or flexible payment pathways. We believe in finding a way, together.
