A Message From The Artistic Director…
Welcome, and thank you for joining us for our season finale, "From Dust." I am thrilled to present this heartfelt collaboration, which honours our artistic roots and the journey we continue to embark on.
"From Dust" showcases the unique perspectives of guest choreographers Kirsten Wicklund, Cristina Bucci, Heather Dotto, and my own contributions. Together, we weave a beautiful tapestry of reminiscence and renewal that reflects our shared narrative.
This performance serves as a gentle ode to our origins, embracing our essence and illuminating a pathway toward a future filled with creativity and possibility. It is a poignant exploration of identity and unity, celebrating the enduring spirit of artistic expression at Lamondance.
As we mark the conclusion of our 16th season, we celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our dancers. At Lamondance, each dancer is recognized as a unique individual with remarkable potential, rather than just a number.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us cultivate a nurturing space where talent can grow and flourish.
Enjoy the show!

2 - The Wind Reminds Me
Premiere 2026
There are many practical ways we measure time—clocks, calendars, seasons turning. But when people change, move away, or leave us, those measures can feel inadequate. Love, loss, and distance stretch and compress time in illogical ways.
Kinesthetic anatomist, educator, author, and choreographer Irene Dowd writes, “The nervous system can be perceived by my fingers in the way that the wind can be perceived by the eyes—only indirectly. I see branches moving to the south, but not the north wind that blows them.”
Like the wind she describes, time is rarely perceived directly. We do not see it passing; we notice what it moves. A voice no longer heard in a room. A space left open at the table. A gesture the body still remembers.
The Wind Reminds Me explores this invisible passage.
Created by Generous Mess, Sarah Hutton & Aiden Cass, in collaboration with the dancers.
Lighting designer: Jamie Sweeney
Music: L'amore Dice Ciao - Armando Trovajoli, A Gente Acaba (Vento Em Rosa) - Alabaster DePlume, No Pills U - Clark, Moonhelmet - Emile Mosseri & Sam Gendel

This work is an adaptation of Company Generous Mess's works 'heirloom' and 'Give Way To, Make Way For, Another' choreographed by Sarah Hutton and Aiden Cass, with artistic contributions from Eowynn Enquist, Isak Enquist, and Kira Radosevic. These referenced works would not be possible without the support of Canada Council for the Arts, EDAM, Dance Victoria, and Dance Deck.

4 - Red Ocean
Originally created for the International Dance Seminar in Brasilia, Brazil—2015.
The brain is a red ocean. Within its deep currents, a universe of 100 billion neurons and a constellation of over 10,000 synaptic connections ripple like waves.
This is the most complex object in the known universe—an ever-changing, turbulent sea of thought and emotion.
Through movement, we explore its vast and mysterious depths, a landscape where every secret we uncover reveals an even greater mystery.

Premiere 2026
over and over and over again
replaying that same situation in your head
turning over that stone in your hand
what if, what else, what then?
two steps forward and one step back, hyperfixated
but --
maybe from a different angle.
shift the perspective.
perhaps the right person, just at the wrong time, or perhaps
working through is the only way of moving forward

5 - VIVA 2.0
May 2019
There is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in” – Leonard Cohen.
The 2019 Viva—an Italian proclamation of "Celebration"—returns to the stage to prove that the architecture of human emotion is truly timeless. Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s observation that the cracks are where the light gets in, the work navigates the fragile boundary between finality and rebirth. We follow a man at his lowest ebb, prepared to surrender to the darkness of a lost love, only to find that the end of one's path is often the threshold of a surreal, "upside-down" world. By remounting this piece, we are reminded that life is never a linear progression, but a series of fractures that offer us the chance to reinvent ourselves and rediscover love in the most unexpected inversions of reality.
Choreography and costumes by Davi Rodrigues
Music Frank Sinatra, Davidson Jaconello , Yma Sumac, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Osvaldo Queiroz. Voices: Hayley Galati, Davi Rodrigues.
Running time: (26 min)
