Sarah Goncalves is a queer-identifying Portuguese-Canadian emerging dance artist and dance educator from Georgetown, Ontario, currently enrolled in Lamondance’s Graduate Bridge Program.

In 2026, Sarah completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at York University, specializing in choreography and performance. During her time at York University, Sarah developed her practice through performance, choreography, and collaboration. She choreographed Rewritten for York Dances 2025 and Kintsugi for Dance Innovations 2025. She also performed in a variety of contemporary works choreographed by faculty and independent artists, including Jane Allison, Syreeta Hector, Yui Ugai, and Tracey Norman, gaining experience across different choreographic processes and perspectives.

Beyond her university training, Sarah has performed internationally as a member of Canada’s National Dance Team, representing Team Canada at the 2023 International Dance Organization World Championships in Belgium.

She is a certified dance educator through the Performing Arts Educators of Canada and a member of the International Dance Council – CID under UNESCO.

Sarah’s artistic practice is grounded in a curiosity about lived human experience and what it means to be human. She is drawn to questions of identity, belonging, spirituality, philosophy, inclusivity, relationships, and meaning. As she begins her season with Lamondance, Sarah is excited to continue learning, collaborating, and developing her voice as an artist through movement and shared experience.
