Julia is a highly versatile artist currently training in her first year with Lamondance. Born in Stellenbosch, Julia immigrated to Vancouver in 2011 where she started her artistic journey through dance and as a visual artist. For Julia, dance has always provided an emotional outlet; it allowed her to find community and express feelings beyond words. Julia’s artistry is backed by elite athleticism and a strong background. She grew up training in the NSAD Half Day Program directed by Dylan Steyns where she did competitions, performances and learned to be versatile across multiple styles spanning from hip-hop, street styles, contemporary, modern, jazz, broadway, and ballet.

After graduating from NSAD, Julia spent a year at The Source Dance Company Season 26, directed by Joanne Pesusich, where she immersed herself in the large community at Harbour Dance Centre. They gained valuable insight into the commercial dance industry and learned from well-known choreographers of Vancouver. They further expanded their artistry with Sounds Syndicate, directed by Christopher Bonus, where they collaborated with diverse choreographers and in live sponsored performances such as the 2025 BMW & BMO Drishti Awards.

She is also a proud member of Team Canada IDO Hip Hop west; they bring a quality level of rhythm and grounded power to their work. Her energy of street styles with contemporary movement defines their artistic voice. Julia is excited to embrace new creative challenges and evolve her artistry with Lamondance this year!

Julia has earned various achievements from her Artwork. In June 2025, Julia received The Gordon Smith Outstanding Visual Artist Scholarship Award. In 2025, a piece of hers was displayed in the Vancouver Aquarium’s new exhibit.

In 2019, Julia was recognized for her artistic skills with a piece being displayed at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art.
