Débora Domingues Tavares
Débora started dancing at the age of 3 through classical ballet. At 11, she also began taking modern dance classes and experiencing contemporary dance. At 15, she had to stop taking only classical ballet classes due to financial difficulties. Starting in 2024, she stopped taking modern dance classes and began focusing on classical ballet and contemporary dance, and she also began teaching classical ballet to children between the ages of 4 and 10.
Throughout her journey, she always participated in the recitals and performances of the dance studios she was part of, and she also participated in two dance films – one from the project Que Padrão é Esse? and another from the project Liberta.
She had opportunities to participate in competitions in her country, where she received several awards and recognition in the contemporary dance solo category. Some highlights include: being invited to perform at the gala of the São Paulo International Dance Prize in 2019, receiving the Best Dancer Award at Cena Festival 2023, being recognized as Outstanding Dancer in the advanced category at MOC 2024, and as Outstanding Dancer at the João Pessoa Dance Festival 2024.
Through these competitions, she received several scholarships for other festivals and courses, one of the most important being a 100% scholarship for the 2025 summer intensive at Faces Ocultas Dance Company. There, she had the opportunity to take classes with various teachers of contemporary dance, classical ballet, and other styles. At the end of this course, she was given the opportunity to join the Lamondance training program, which she believes will be very important for her career.
