Lamondance Presents: A Winter's Twist Audition Opportunity

Lamondance is excited to once again invite talented young dancers from our community to audition and perform with our professional company in our annual holiday show, "A Winter's Twist." This year marks our fifth successful season, and we are thrilled to be performing in both North Vancouver and Abbotsford, BC.

"A Winter's Twist" is a stunning, modern spin on the classic tale of "Romeo and Juliet," reimagined for the holiday season. The story follows Juliet Clara, a curious girl from a family that doesn't like the holidays, who runs away from the boredom of the season. She dashes into an upside-down, twisted world where she meets Romeo, a boy whose family is hysterical about the holidays. This is a family-friendly production designed to captivate and delight audiences of all ages.

We are looking for dancers aged 8 to 15 years old (as of December 5, 2025) to audition for the following roles:

  • Polar Bears (3'8" – 4'10"): Required to perform intermediate dancing/blocking actions and wear headpieces.

  • Family Members: Required to act and perform intermediate contemporary dancing steps.

  • Creatures of the Lake: Required to perform advanced contemporary dancing steps.

What to Expect at the Audition

During the audition our Artistic Director, and the Lamondance artistic team will lead a dynamic, fun, and professional experience designed to make all dancers feel included. The audition will begin with a warm-up rooted in contemporary dance, followed by a series of exercises performed across the floor. These activities are designed to help determine each dancer's potential and their desired role within the show, while also considering them for other positions. The entire process will be conducted in a manner that is respectful and appropriate for all ages.

Please note: Parents may not observe the audition. We ask that a parent or guardian remain in the building during the audition as the dancers may finish early.

  • Register to audition by September 26, 2025.

  • When: Saturday, September 27, 2025

  • Where: Lamondance, 3355 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver (Studio 01)

  • Schedule:

    • 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Registration

    • 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Audition for all ages

Rehearsals will be held every Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., beginning on October 4 until November 16, 2025, at Lamondance (3355 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver).

Performances will be on December 5 and 17 in Abbotsford and North Vancouver.
