Lamondance Presents: Alice in Winterland - Audition Opportunity

Lamondance is excited to invite talented young dancers from our community to audition and perform with our professional company in our brand-new holiday production, "Alice in Winterland." After five successful seasons of A Winter’s Twist, we are embarking on a fresh creative journey, and we want you to be part of this world premiere.

"Alice in Winterland" is a contemporary reimagining of the classic tale. The story follows Alice, a young dreamer trapped in a household where the winter holidays are forbidden. Alongside her antagonistic brother, she is pulled into a frozen, colourless Wonderland governed by a Queen who has outlawed celebration. Alice must navigate a landscape of eccentric characters and rebellious inhabitants to thaw the Queen’s heart and reconcile her own family’s differences.

We are looking for dancers ages 9 (as of November 2026) to 16 years old with a minimum understanding of dance movement (Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, or Acrobatics) to audition for the following roles:

  • Alice & The Brother (Small), (3'8" – 4'10"): A specialty role representing the sibling after his transformation (not a full main part).

  • The Bunny (Small): A specialty role representing the sibling after his transformation (not a full main part).

  • The Tea Party: Various eccentric and expressive characters from the iconic Wonderland table.

  • The Caterpillars: A wise, multi-part ensemble requiring strong coordination.

  • Multiplying Bunnies: A chaotic, playful, and frightening ensemble encounter.

  • Rebellious Kids: High-energy inhabitants fighting to keep the holiday spirit alive.

What to Expect at the Audition

Our Artistic Director and the Lamondance artistic team will lead a dynamic, fun, and professional audition designed to make all dancers feel included. The session will begin with a contemporary-based warm-up, followed by across-the-floor exercises and creative movement. These activities help our team see each dancer’s potential and personality for specific characters. The entire process is conducted in a respectful, age-appropriate manner.

Please note: Parents may not observe the audition. We ask that a parent or guardian remain in the building, as some groups may finish earlier than scheduled.

Rehearsals will be held every Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., beginning on September 26, 2026, until November 28, 2026, at Lamondance (3355 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver).
