LAMONDANCERS SEASON 9 2017/2018
I moved from Nelson BC in 2016 to attend Lamondance season 8, and couldn't have imagined what an amazing experience it would be. Not only was it great to dance alongside some incredible people, but we were also able to bond over things outside of dance and create a big family. Im so happy to be returning for season 9 and can't wait to continue building our Lamondance community.
Caroline began studying dance at the age of three at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, beginning with recreational ballet and modern dance. Later at the age of ten she realized her passion for dance and started to train at Dance Collective, formerly known as Douglas Ballet Academy. From then onwards she trained in several different types of dance including ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and jazz. At the age of twelve Caroline began to take part in competitions for both group and solo pieces, locally and internationally, winning many gold medals, scholarships, trophies and Top Ten awards; competing with ballet and contemporary solos at YAGP in Seattle, 2015-17, was a highlight.
Caroline has found that she is most passionate about contemporary and ballet and wishes to one day pursue a career in a professional contemporary company. She looks forward to her two years of training at Lamondance and the opportunities that it will bring.

Born and raised in North Vancouver, I started taking ballet at the age of 4 at RNB Dance and Theatre Arts and eventually picked up every other style. Marie began dancing at the age of 3 and has never once looked back. After many years of recreational and competition dance she realized that this was the career she intended to pursue. With that Marie began home schooling in order to work privately with a dance coach and mentor for one year. Following this Marie moved east to Calgary, Alberta to attend the School of Alberta Ballet, training in the Dedicated Contemporary Dance Stream, which allowed for her to expand her dance knowledge and abilities, as well as mature as an artist. It was in Alberta where Marie realized that this was 100% the path she was supposed to be on and started researching post graduate training to further her dance education in hopes to one day make a career of it. Marie has since found her self beginning a new and exciting journey in her dance career at Lamondance for their 9th season.
Myah McCarthy began her training at the age of three in a pre-competitive gymnastics program, it was then her desire to flourish began. Waking up every day to train for 7 hours straight, she worked her way up into the competitive program at Club Aviva. She then started competing at the age of 6, placing in top ten and continuing to place until she turned 8 where an injury to her foot caused her to redirect her focus to dance. After a quick introduction into the dance community, her passion for performance grew and her name started to gain a reputation, a good one at that.
Myah has studied in many genres such as Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Musical Theatre. She was named Provincial Representative two years in a row, once in Modern, then in Jazz and Stage. She also followed her studio at conventions and was named Breakout Artist in 2016 and 2017 at Nuvo Dance Convention. In the summer of 2016 she had the honour of mentoring under Jaci Royal and her company “Royal Flux” in North Hollywood. During this experience a solo was choreographed for her and she placed no less than 2nd with this piece. Myah has also worked with many other well known choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Denise Wall, Teddy Florence, Stacey Tookey, and Liz Tookey. Myah is well known in the dance community as a performer and is making a name for herself as a teacher. She has spent the past two years teaching children from the ages 3-8 in various styles of dance and choreographing her own pieces in Contemporary, Lyrical, and Jazz. Myah will be continuing her dance training at Lamondance Company while furthering her goal of becoming a professional dancer.
